ForeLore Privacy Policy

ForeLore ("we," "us," or "the app") is a golf round-storytelling app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using ForeLore you agree to this policy.

Information We Collect

• Account information: the email address and display name you provide when you create an account, managed through Google Firebase Authentication.
• Round content you create: your golf rounds, including hole scores, shot data (shape, strike, quality), putts, penalties, and the geographic coordinates of shots you mark on hole imagery. These coordinates come from where you tap on the map — not from your device's location.
• Audio recordings: if you record an audio narration ("lore") for a hole, the recording is stored so it can play back for you and anyone you share the round with. This uses your device microphone, with your permission.
• Social information: your friend connections, friend requests, rounds you share or that are shared with you, and any content-moderation reports you submit.

Information We Do Not Collect

• Your physical location. ForeLore does not request or track your device GPS location. Shot positions are derived from your interaction with on-screen map imagery.
• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How We Use Your Information

• To create and maintain your account.
• To save your rounds and let you play them back.
• To enable social features you choose to use — adding friends and sharing rounds.
• To review reports and enforce our content rules.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the app.

How Information Is Shared

• With other users, at your direction: when you share a round, the recipient can see that round's content, your display name, your message, and any audio narration. When you add a friend, they can see your display name.
• Service providers: we use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage) to host data, and the Google Maps Platform to display course imagery. These providers process data on our behalf and may collect limited technical/diagnostic information as described in Google's privacy policy.
• Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the public.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account inside the app. Deleting your account removes your profile, your rounds, your audio recordings, your friend connections, and your friend requests. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Security

Data is stored using Google Firebase's managed infrastructure with industry-standard protections. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children's Privacy

ForeLore is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your Choices

• You can edit your profile information in the app.
• You can block and report other users from within the app.
• You can delete your account and associated data at any time.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
